Points of Light , roll call

This article was published on Substack, after an intro by Afshin Rattansi to W.H.Auden’s poem. Originally in solidarity with Journalists persecuted in UK. Under section 12. However listening to Doctors, nurses & paramedics operating in the hell of an Israeli genocide, and the denial by western politicians and media, have laboured to treat civilians targeted by zionist aggression. Below we wish to list those who are indeed ‘Points of Light’ Living and martyred.

In “September 1, 1939,” W. H. Auden reflects on the political and social turmoil at the onset of World War II. The line “ironic points of light” appears in the penultimate stanza:
“Defenceless under the night Our world in stupor lies; Yet, dotted everywhere, Ironic points of light Flash out wherever the Just Exchange their messages:”

In this context, the “ironic points of light” symbolize moments of hope and moral clarity amidst the darkness and chaos of war. These points of light represent individuals or actions that stand for justice and truth, even when the world seems overwhelmingly bleak.
Auden’s use of “ironic” suggests a contrast between the small, isolated acts of goodness and the vast, pervasive evil of the time. Despite the irony, these points of light offer a glimmer of hope and a reminder of the enduring

I write about this as a tribute to those who speak out against the horror of zionist Israeli genocide that infests our sensibilities. Sarah Wilkinson, Ritchie Medhurst, have been abused by the misuse of the terrorist act, to intimidate & silence their exposure of our parliaments complicity in defiance of ICC & ICJ rulings.
But the ‘points of lights’ are also a salute to the millions around the worldwho speak out against NATO aggression against Russia, against US & Israeli zionist supremacist ideology , against a active genocide and holocaust of innocent Palestinians in their occupied country.
Despite the antagonists fevered attempts to suppress the truth, the zionist controlled American hegemon and their vassals have failed in their puerile attempts to gag us, those ‘points of light’ that flash their tweets, posts, articles, and videos will continue to light the path through the darkness of our times.
we will not be silenced

( important footnote: there is a site by president Bush, that refers to awards of ‘points of light’ this in no way reflects the meaning as espoused by WH Auden).

Professor Nizam Mamode,.

Acclaimed British surgeon Nizam Mamode breaks down briefly while testifying to the UK Parliament about Israel’s quadcopters picking off kids who had just been bombed.

Article from BBC.

A retired surgeon who volunteered at a hospital in Gaza has told MPs that Israeli drones would target children who were lying injured after bombings.

Prof Nizam Mamode, from Brockenhurst, Hampshire, worked at Nasser hospital for a month in August and September.

Giving evidence to the parliamentary International Development Committee, he broke down as he described children's accounts of being shot by quadcopters.

Labour MP Sarah Champion, who chairs the committee, said his evidence was "profound and deeply chilling".

The 62-year-old surgeon told MPs: "What I found particularly disturbing was that a bomb would drop, maybe on a crowded, tented area and then the drones would come down."

His face shook with emotion as he paused for several seconds to compose himself.

He continued: "The drones would come down and pick off civilians - children.

"We [were] operating on children who would say: 'I was lying on the ground after a bomb had dropped and this quadcopter came down and hovered over me and shot me.'

"That's clearly a deliberate act and it was a persistent act - persistent targeting of civilians day after day."
